About the role
- Project Design Engineer developing and delivering powertrain systems for automotive client. Collaborating in a hybrid environment to ensure project success and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical delivery of powertrain systems from concept through to production, including: Cooling Exhaust and Insulation, Air Intake Systems
- Author/manage technical specifications, FMEAs, DVPs, and test plans
- Support prototype and series vehicle builds and testing activities
- Contribute to key project reviews and technical status meetings
- Collaborate with suppliers to meet design, cost, and delivery targets
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including logistics, purchasing, and programme teams
- Identify and mitigate risks, track engineering concerns, and drive robust resolutions
- Prepare and deliver documentation for internal and customer milestone reviews
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (2:1 or above or equivalent)
- Extensive background in automotive powertrain engineering
- Hands-on experience collaborating with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
- Strong expertise in powertrain system design, development, and validation
- Proven track record delivering driveline, transmission, and engine components
- Comprehensive knowledge of APQP and related processes
- Proficient in DFM, DFMEA, risk analysis, and root cause resolution methodologies
- Proficient in CATIA V5
