Project Design Engineer developing and delivering powertrain systems for automotive client. Collaborating in a hybrid environment to ensure project success and innovation.
Responsibilities
Own the technical delivery of powertrain systems from concept through to production, including: Cooling Exhaust and Insulation, Air Intake Systems
Author/manage technical specifications, FMEAs, DVPs, and test plans
Support prototype and series vehicle builds and testing activities
Contribute to key project reviews and technical status meetings
Collaborate with suppliers to meet design, cost, and delivery targets
Coordinate with internal stakeholders including logistics, purchasing, and programme teams
Identify and mitigate risks, track engineering concerns, and drive robust resolutions
Prepare and deliver documentation for internal and customer milestone reviews
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (2:1 or above or equivalent)
Extensive background in automotive powertrain engineering
Hands-on experience collaborating with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
Strong expertise in powertrain system design, development, and validation
Proven track record delivering driveline, transmission, and engine components
Comprehensive knowledge of APQP and related processes
Proficient in DFM, DFMEA, risk analysis, and root cause resolution methodologies
Proficient in CATIA V5
