About the role
- Senior Backend Engineer designing and enhancing scalable backend systems at EvenUp, a startup in the legal tech sector focusing on AI-driven solutions for justice.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance scalable backend systems supporting LLM-driven products and internal platforms
- Own infrastructure and services for reliable deployment, experimentation, and iteration of AI-powered systems
- Collaborate with engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver reusable, scalable solutions
- Influence the technical direction and long-term architecture of EvenUp’s AI platform
- Maintain high standards for reliability, performance, observability, and maintainability
- Drive projects from early design through deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement
Requirements
- Extensive experience building frameworks, libraries, and distributed systems with a focus on reliability, observability, and performance
- Proficiency delivering production-ready code, managing infrastructure, and building RESTful APIs to industry standards
- Experience owning and delivering complex technical projects
- Success in startup or high-growth environments valuing speed, collaboration, and ownership
- Proficiency in Python or other languages (Go, Java, C++)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven cross-disciplinary collaboration
