About the role
- VAT Analyst managing day-to-day compliance of multiple businesses throughout Europe. Collaborating with various teams and external advisors on VAT reporting and issues.
Responsibilities
- Prepare VAT Returns, EC Sales Lists, & other mandatory reports related to VAT
- Prepare monthly VAT return overviews for Country Controllers to assist with approvals
- Prepare data for submission of VAT payment requests; ensure deadlines for payment are met and highlight large month on month fluctuations in payments or refunds – this includes close working with Payment and Banking team
- Identify areas of incorrect VAT treatment as part of the VAT return process and communicate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams regarding correct booking of documents from VAT perspective
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of VAT Balance sheet accounts and posting of month end clearing journals. Work with country controllers on open items with a view to clearing issues in a timely manner
- Assist the business with Tax authority queries and audits
- Assist the business with ad hoc requests and internal audits
- Ensure that VAT issues or risks identified are flagged to the Head of VAT in a timely manner, and provide support to resolve
- Assist with updating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedure documentation
- Ad-hoc miscellaneous duties and requirements
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in relevant accounting or VAT compliance
- Fluent English is essential and additional languages would be beneficial
- Proficient in Excel
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised, analytical and methodical with strong attention to detail
- Experience with SAP
