Consulting Associate supporting environmental projects through field investigations in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina, focusing on sustainability challenges and environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
Conducting field investigations including soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling.
Performing aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, monitoring well and soil boring installs, well development, purging and sampling, remedial and wastewater treatment pilot tests, and remedial system O&M.
Assisting with groundwater and wastewater system performance monitoring.
Supporting Phase I and II environmental assessments for property transfer transactions.
Compiling and evaluating environmental data and assisting in report development.
Preparing environmental compliance documents—work plans, permits, and reports for air quality, stormwater, hazardous waste, spill prevention, and wastewater.
Helping ensure regulatory compliance at federal, state, and local levels.
Working within established quality, budget, and schedule expectations to meet project requirements.
Communicating with subcontractors, regulatory personnel, tenants, and clients during field activities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science, or related field; Master’s degree a plus.
Minimum 3.0 GPA.
Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant experience.
Strong interest in fieldwork; ability to stand or walk for full field days.
Commitment to safety and adherence to Health & Safety protocols.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical notes and reports.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Detail‑oriented with a problem‑solving, results-focused mindset.
Ability to multi-task, travel, adapt, and self-manage.
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.
