Managing technical project development for DTE Energy, ensuring safety and environmental standards. Lead project execution from inception to completion with a focus on quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Managing technical aspects of project development from inception through initiation of construction
Supporting role through startup and closeout of projects
Performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion
Screening projects to determine technical viability
Ensuring that personnel safety and environmental awareness are incorporated in design
Facilitating development and review of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) specifications and drawings
Preparing formal RFP packages and managing competitive bidding processes, including evaluation of proposals and selection of contractors and vendors
Developing cost estimates and expenditure forecasts for management review
Reviewing, managing and organizing project documentation including technical specifications, calculations, and drawings
Coordinating performance test procedure development and evaluating performance test results
Overseeing contractors, consultants, engineers, vendors, and government agencies to complete projects within scope, schedule, and budget
Performing technical due diligence activities in support of acquisition efforts
Traveling within the continental United States; expected to be about 10% to 30%
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, or Construction Management
8 or more years of experience as a project engineer, project manager or construction manager
Licensed Professional Engineer and/or Project Management Professional preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong presentation skills
Working knowledge of MS computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project in a Windows environment
Knowledge of Procore Project Management Software
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
Capable of working alone or as part of a team without a significant level of supervision
Ability to manage budgets, project costs and scheduling
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Capable of promoting and maintaining strong, positive relationships with coworkers, suppliers, contractors, vendors, engineering firms, and customers
Willingness to share expertise and knowledge with other team members for the benefit of the entire company
Willingness to acquire new technical skills
Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees may report to both a functional leader and a business leader
