Legal AI & Innovation Associate at CORTO, empowering legal practitioners with AI-driven solutions. Engaging in legal testing and collaboration with product and engineering teams.
Responsibilities
You’ll join a small but high-impact team sitting at the heart of CORTO’s AI product work.
The role spans hands-on legal testing of AI agents, writing prompts for our product library, training global legal teams, and providing the practitioner’s perspective that makes everything we build actually useful to lawyers.
Lead legal testing of AI models and agents – design and execute test plans covering real legal tasks (drafting affidavits, analysing correspondence, preparing subpoenas), evaluate outputs against professional standards, and report findings to the product team.
Write and refine prompts for the LawY prompt library across practice areas – starting with family law, with scope across litigation, criminal law, and adjacent legal domains.
Train and upskill LEAP content teams globally (Australia, UK, US) on AI prompting best practice, the latest developments in legal AI, and how to effectively demo LawY to legal practitioners.
Attend LawY and AI workshops and represent Corto’s legal perspective – you’ll bring the practitioner’s voice to technical and product conversations.
Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to map out matter types, legal stakeholders (barristers, mediators, family report writers, experts), and help build out the AI dashboard of prompts and research workflows.
Review legal content produced by the marketing team – website copy, articles, white papers – and provide accuracy and compliance feedback.
Support research for presentations, white papers, and blog content on legal AI trends, including topics like hallucinations, deepfakes, and the evolving regulatory landscape.
Assist in developing dummy data and test datasets to support AI model evaluation across LEAP and LawY.
Work closely with the legal product team to ensure testing and prompt feedback feeds directly into the product roadmap.
Requirements
A Law degree (LLB or equivalent) and admission to practice in an Australian state or territory.
3+ years’ experience as a practising lawyer – family law or general practice strongly preferred; we’re not looking for specialists outside those areas.
Demonstrated experience or genuine passion for AI tools in legal work – whether that’s professional experience with legal research platforms, document AI, or your own deep personal curiosity about what AI can and can’t do.
Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change – this team has gone through multiple product pivots and wears many hats; that kind of environment should excite rather than unsettle you.
Strong written communication skills – you’ll be writing prompts, training materials, legal research summaries, and contributing to external-facing content.
Ability to juggle competing priorities without dropping quality – some weeks are hours of legal testing; others are conference prep and global training calls.
