Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 15+ body and paint technicians
Drive daily production, cycle times, and throughput to meet or exceed targets
Ensure high-quality repairs and refinishing standards across all work completed
Oversee job scheduling, work distribution, and shop workflow optimization
Manage department profitability, including labor efficiency, materials usage, and cost control
Partner with estimating, parts, and operations teams to ensure smooth job execution
Maintain strong relationships with fleet customers and key accounts
Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies
Monitor KPIs such as turnaround time, rework rates, and gross profit margins
Requirements
5–7+ years of progressive experience in heavy truck or commercial vehicle body and paint repair
3+ years of leadership experience managing 15+ technicians in a body/paint environment
Strong technical expertise in: Frame and suspension repair
Body panel repair (steel, aluminum, fiberglass, composite)
Commercial vehicle refinishing processes
Deep knowledge of modern paint systems, including color matching, blending, and refinishing techniques
Proven ability to hit production goals, maintain quality, and control costs
Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold teams accountable and drive performance
