About the role
- Senior Counsel managing procurement and construction contracts for ContourGlobal, an Independent Power Producer. Legal expertise across contract lifecycle in energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Support the business by providing strategic and hands-on legal expertise across the full contract lifecycle for procurement and construction-related activities.
- Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, approval, and finalization of a wide range of supply chain contracts, including EPC-related agreements, construction contracts, supply agreements, framework agreements, service contracts, and purchase orders.
- Act as the legal decision authority for procurement and construction contracts within assigned limits of authority.
- Provide day-to-day legal advice to the Procurement function on contractual, commercial, and risk-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (including contract law, construction law, and where applicable international trade regulations).
- Actively manage minor contractual claims and disputes with suppliers and construction providers.
Requirements
- Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent)
- 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably within an IPP, energy company, infrastructure developer, EPC contractor, or reputable international law firm.
- Demonstrated experience in a lead or senior legal role with decision-making authority.
- Proven track record in contract management and negotiation for construction, procurement, and supply chain contracts across multiple jurisdictions.
- Strong experience supporting Procurement or procurement functions in complex, project-based and international environments.
- Strong knowledge of construction law and commercial contracts.
- Solid understanding of supply chain risks in large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience with international suppliers and cross-border contracts is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Admission to practice law in at least one relevant jurisdiction is preferred.
