About the role

  • Economic Development Program Manager responsible for funding, outreach, and program implementation. Leading operational management and supporting economic initiatives for community development in San Diego.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for day-to-day operational management of activities and functions in the Economic Development area
  • Identify and secure funding to support Economic Development initiatives
  • Plan and implement funded programs, including outreach, qualifying business clients, enrolling clients and providing technical assistance
  • Track data, maintain accurate records, manage program budget, and prepare and submit all required reports
  • Participate in Economic Development team meetings and Program Manager team meetings
  • Represent the organization in external meetings and acts as representative to a variety of public agencies, businesses, community groups and other nonprofit organizations
  • Provides for the selection, training, professional development of subordinate staff
  • Perform complex administrative duties requiring oversight, attention to detail and analysis
  • Manage several projects with competing deadlines with coinciding reporting requirements
  • Produce detailed proposals for events
  • Ensure all permits, insurance, legal, health and safety obligations are filed properly
  • Track and collect data to input in database to help guide and inform future economic development goals and resources

Requirements

  • Commitment to the mission of the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ management experience; preferably in the nonprofit field
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills with ability to lead a team and achieve results
  • Experience in budgeting, supervising programs, and supervising program evaluation
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills, including public speaking, presentation and writing skills
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills; possesses solid judgement, critical thinking skills, and a sense of teamwork and community
  • Ability to manage several projects with competing deadlines
  • High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
