About the role
- Test Development Engineer developing automated test solutions for optical transceivers at Luxetra. Collaborating with hardware and firmware teams to ensure product quality and robust testing coverage.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support automated test solutions for next-generation client optical transceivers and sub-assemblies
- Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality product delivery
- Implement and validate automated optical test setups for client optics modules using Python or similar languages
- Integrate and program electronic/optical test equipment such as Source Meters, optical power meters, Bit Error Rate Testers (BERTs), and DCA
- Develop data acquisition and analysis scripts/tools to process large datasets, generate yield reports, and drive root-cause investigations
- Deploy and troubleshoot test solutions on manufacturing lines
- Provide training and documentation for production teams
- Work with design, firmware, and reliability engineers to define test requirements, acceptance criteria, and FA (Failure Analysis) procedures
- Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively propose enhancements to test methodologies, automation, and process efficiency
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or a related field
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in test development for optical transceivers, photonics modules, or high-speed electronics
- Strong Python programming skills (other languages such as C#, LabVIEW are a plus)
- Proficient with optical and electronic test instrumentation and automation (e.g., VISA, PyVISA, SCPI, GPIB, USB, Ethernet)
- Familiarity with SQL databases for test data management
- Experience with GUI development (Tkinter, PyQt, or similar) is desirable
- Understanding of optical communications principles, fiber optics
- Understanding of tunable lasers
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
