About the role
- Data Science Engineer building the software and data infrastructure for media advertising at Medialab. A 1 year university placement role focusing on AI and automation in data science.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of data science tools, improving automation, efficiency, and scalability
- Work closely with data scientists and stakeholders to refine and enhance our internal modelling and data analysis tools, transforming manual workflows into reliable infrastructure
- Support in the hands-on development of AI agents and rapid Proofs of Concept (POCs)
- Implement and improve machine learning workflows, supporting the deployment and monitoring of models
- Act as frontline technical support, troubleshooting and applying user feedback to iteratively improve internal tools
- Write clean, testable code and maintain clear technical documentation
- Manage development tickets within an Agile environment
Requirements
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science
- Proficiency in Python, specifically with popular libraries like Pandas and NumPy
- Highly capable with Microsoft Excel and the wider MS Office suite
- Exposure to SQL for querying and managing structured datasets
- Theoretical understanding of machine learning concepts and statistical techniques
- Foundational experience with version control (Git) and collaborative coding environments
- Good communication skills

- Inquisitive engineering mindset with a strong desire to build and automate (NICE TO HAVE)
