About the role

• Associate Civil Engineering Technician with Black & Veatch involved in supporting water projects and building critical infrastructure. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams using design software and engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• supports engineering teams under general supervision
• performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling)
• creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
• begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians
• stay current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures
• apply knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables
• demonstrate strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives
• use and expand applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures
• create and develop project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs
• perform basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks
• coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences
• support internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers
• proactively seek out, share, and apply knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes

Requirements

• typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience
• diploma or certificate preferred
• associate degree in drafting or an engineering design related technology preferred
• basic Civil3D experience is required with the use of pipe/pressure networks, proposed grading surfaces and plan and profile development
• all applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations
