About the role
- Network Engineer & IT Generalist focused on network operations and IT support for BJ's Wholesale Club. Collaborating with teams to ensure optimal network infrastructure and support.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting the overall connectivity at the Perishable Distribution Center.
- Work with the various Network teams – L2 NOC and L3 Network team, to support the network infrastructure.
- The ability to properly triage and troubleshoot Network Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and WFi.
- Strong WiFi skillset, and can understand and tune and optimize WiFi networks.
- Act as remote hands for L2 NOC and L3 Network teams during troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Provide onsite support of validation of connectivity as needed during IT change and maintenance windows.
- Provide onsite technical support for desktops, laptops, thin clients, printers, servers, and handheld devices.
- Collaborate with corporate IT and third-party vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
- Lead IT project work at the PDC and in-territory locations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all technical work and ensure compliance with company policies and security protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical support or network engineering role, preferably in a retail or distribution environment.
- Hands-on experience with Aruba Networks – Switches and Access Points, and Aruba Central, Ekahau Wireless Tools, and Fortinet firewalls is a plus.
- Hands-on experience working in a fast paced mobile distribution warehouse – WIFI on fast moving fork lifts.
- Hands-on experience with Workspace ONE (Airwatch), Zebra and Honeywell mobility devices, and VoCollect.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Android, iOS, and Windows platforms.
- Working knowledge of networking technologies including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with Wherehouse Management Systems, POS systems and retail technology is a plus.
