About the role
- Staff Software Engineer designing and implementing distributed systems for Bazaarvoice. Collaborating with engineering leadership to enhance developer productivity and experience.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead Internal Developer Platform and Developer Experience strategy.
- Act as the primary technical lead for the Single Tool Chain initiative.
- Work closely with engineering leadership and cross-functional teams to architect reusable tooling, templates, and paved-road solutions.
Requirements
- 10 to 15 years experience with highly scalable distributed systems using open source tools.
- Strong hands-on coding ability.
- Strong Java engineering skills are required, with experience building production backend services.
- Additional polyglot experience with TypeScript or Python is highly desirable.
- Deep understanding of software design patterns, clean architecture, expert-level system design, and maintainable code practices.
- Strong foundation in software engineering principles including object-oriented design, unit testing, code reuse, and code reviews.
- In-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, support).
- Experience building self-service developer platform capabilities.
- Designed and directed the implementation of cloud-native architectures.
- Extensive knowledge of container and container orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
- Passion for improving developer experience and productivity through thoughtful platform design and automation.
- Experience driving engineering standards and platform adoption across multiple teams.
