Senior Safety Engineer delivering engineering excellence for the Type 26 Class Managed Equipment programme at Babcock. Ensuring compliance with MOD policy, safety and environmental legislation for national security and sustainability.
Responsibilities
Providing professional safety and environmental engineering support to T26 transition-to-service projects.
Delivering safety and environmental case input for non-conformances and design changes.
Supporting other members of the Warship Technical Authority team with your expertise.
Escalating and communicating project risks in the safety and environmental domain.
Acting as Equipment Technical Authority for through-life customer support.
Requirements
Strong leadership, management, and facilitation skills.
Ability to make decisions within your area of responsibility.
Proven track record of delivering outputs to quality, time, and budget.
Commitment to design safety and willingness to challenge when necessary.
Self-motivated with a desire to learn and develop.
Ideally degree-qualified in an engineering discipline (or extensive relevant experience).
Preferably hold Defence Maritime Regulator’s SEMT or SSMO certification (training can be arranged).
Membership of a relevant institution (e.g., IExpE, IMechE, RINA, IET) and Chartered or Incorporated status (or working towards).
