About the role
- Senior Traffic Signals Design Engineer providing effective support in traffic signals schemes. Leading a team and delivering engineering solutions for transport infrastructure across the UK.
Responsibilities
- Provide effective support and assistance to the team on a variety of traffic signals and related schemes
- Lead a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
- Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables
- Identify design risk and hazards and communicate those with Principal Contractors
- Oversee the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks
- Liaise with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings and responding to queries
- Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio
- Contribute to the preparation of bids and general working winning function
- Drive effective health and safety practices within the team
Requirements
- Developed experience and expertise within traffic signals field
- Knowledge of traffic signals design processes and procedures or on-road operational and maintenance experience of traffic signals
- Competent in use of AutoCAD and KeySignals
- Experience of junction modelling using LINSIG
- Ability to produce detailed traffic signals designs including writing of controller configuration forms
- Experience of traffic signals Factory and Site Acceptance testing and commissioning
- Knowledge/experience of design and validation of SCOOT UTC and/or MOVA is desirable
- Professional accreditation status is desirable, gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned
