About the role

  • Climate Portfolio Manager responsible for managing portfolios of commercial solar and climate-related finance projects. Collaborating with the Climate Lending Team and ensuring portfolio performance and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing daily management of assigned climate loan relationships within bank policy and customer service standards.
  • Request, analyze, and assess borrower financial reporting and project performance information on a timely basis.
  • Underwrite and recommend loan modifications, renewals, waivers, and amendments.
  • Review financial models, collateral reporting, third-party reports, and appraisals; escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Prepare credit memoranda, risk rating recommendations, and approval packages in compliance with Bank guidelines.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on documentation for borrower execution.
  • Work with third-party vendors (e.g., independent engineers, O&M contractors, consultants) as required.
  • Communicate clearly with internal partners and borrowers regarding portfolio issues and requirements.
  • Monitor covenant compliance and document exceptions.
  • Maintain accurate and complete credit files and portfolio documentation.
  • Prepare reporting for internal portfolio reviews and loan quality meetings.
  • Respond to information requests from internal stakeholders and auditors.
  • Identify emerging risks within assigned portfolio and escalate concerns to management.
  • Provide secondary approval for advances after determining that all conditions to advances have been met.
  • Support team members through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide input on process improvements and workflow enhancements.
  • Maintain proactive communication with relationship managers and internal partners.
  • Demonstrate accountability for individual deliverables and deadlines.
  • Recommend ways to improve the organization.
  • Proactively manage loan relationships by setting appropriate client expectations and meeting deadlines.
  • Proactively keep management, commercial bankers and other team members informed on the progress with client requests and other deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent commercial credit experience.
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in commercial banking, project finance, structured finance, or climate/renewable energy lending.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements, cash flows, and financial models to assess borrower and project performance.
  • Working knowledge of commercial loan structures, collateral, covenants and credit risk principles.
  • Experience preparing credit memoranda risk rating recommendations and loan approval packages.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools; ability to learn and use internal bank systems effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear, organized credit analysis.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, accountability, and collaborative work style.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment within established policies and escalate issues appropriately.
