About the role
- Senior Protection Relay & Metering Engineer providing technical expertise in renewable energy operations. Supporting and optimizing AES Clean Energy operational performance of a fleet of renewables across the US.
Responsibilities
- Support, improve, and optimize AES Clean Energy operational performance of a fleet of renewables across the US
- Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting, and critical process support to substation relays, meters, and communications equipment
- Assist in educating team members in troubleshooting methods
- Mentor and train team members on connecting to relays and meters
- Manage the replacement of aging Remote Automation Controllers
- Participate in deployments of new OT initiatives and provide operations representation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field
- 3-5 years of professional experience in the following areas: PLCs, SCADA integration, networking, renewable energy systems, relays, power plant controllers and substation equipment
- Knowledge of condition monitoring systems and their connectivity
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills related to network communications and SCADA systems
- Knowledge of RTAC programming/Structured Text
- Fluency with data acquisition systems and SCADA systems
- Ability to establish trust through building relationships
- Strong coaching skills and safety awareness
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (35% first year)
