About the role
- Underwriting Consultant for Ocean Cargo team handling complex accounts in the U.S. Maximizes underwriting opportunities and develops relationships with producers.
Responsibilities
- Underwrites risks including the selection and rejection of new and renewal business for complex, specialty accounts
- Maximizes opportunities for profitable new and renewal business based on market conditions
- Develops and maintains an active target account list tracking prospects
- Manages financial performance of all assigned products in assigned territory
- Executes underwriting strategy, including portfolio management and compliance with standards
- Makes underwriting decisions to accept, decline, or modify risks
- Develops superior working relationships with producers
- Anticipates the needs of the agency plant, analyzes trends, and implements proactive strategies
- Mentors and coaches less experienced underwriters
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 7-10 years of progressively more complex Ocean Cargo underwriting experience
- Professional insurance designation is preferred (AICPCU, RPLU)
