About the role
- Lead development of Mycolever's cloud-based fungal biocompound discovery platform using AI/ML and multiomics. Collaborate with scientists to deliver scalable, customer-facing discovery services.
Responsibilities
- Actively support and shape the strategic direction of the biocompound discovery platform in alignment with overall company strategy and customer requirements.
- Manage a cross-functional project team as a hands-on product owner and ensure alignment with the founding team’s vision and goals as well as customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain a cloud-based biocompound discovery platform.
- Design and implement algorithms and data flows from internal and external sources.
- Utilize AI and machine learning techniques to analyze and match multiomics data to functional properties of molecules.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in platform technologies, bioinformatics, AI, and machine learning to continually improve the platform.
- Create a comprehensive map of fungal chemistry through metabologenomics.
- Predict chemical structures and properties using deep learning.
- Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
- Collaborate with biologists, chemists, chem-/bioinformaticians and data scientists to integrate their insights into the platform.
- Identify and develop discovery services for customers, leading to paid collaboration projects or licensing opportunities for discovered compounds.
- Integrate data and learning from high-throughput validations in the lab environment into the platform.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of practical software development
- Proven experience as software development and product owner in complex B2B software and services development in an agile environment (scrum)
- Proficiency in developing and deploying algorithms and data flows
- Proficient in software engineering using programming languages such as Java, Python, C++
- Familiarity with knowledge graph development and databases such as Neo4j
- Proficient in data engineering tools and technologies, such as Python, SQL and ETL / ELT frameworks
- Experience with integration of large language models to annotate unstructured data to knowledge graph
- Strong understanding of data analysis libraries such as Pandas and NumPy
- Experience with cloud technologies like Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS as well as Docker
- Knowledge of development tools, documentation and version control systems, particularly Jira, Confluence, GitHub or GitLab
- Optional: Familiarity with data visualization libraries such as Plotly, Matplotlib or Bokeh
- Soft skills: Entrepreneurial mindset, proactive approach, strong problem-solving, ability to work independently, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, experience in team leadership and management
