About the role
- Lead Software Developer providing technical leadership at S&P Global Commodity Insights. Overseeing application development, architecture, and managing engineering teams in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership in the execution and delivery of technology solutions to support business applications.
- Define, develop, and manage technical architecture for Environmental Solutions projects, including cloud infrastructure, APIs, microservices, integration patterns, and data platforms.
- Own and drive the Information Modelling workstream, creating comprehensive conceptual, logical, and physical data models to ensure consistency, flexibility, and scalability.
- Ensure timely delivery of the application development projects without compromising the quality and performance of the system
- Drive innovation and continuous learning, staying informed about emerging technologies relevant to environmental and sustainability solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in application development (including application architecture, information modelling, data governance, software development, and system integration).
- 6+ years of people management experience with 2+ years of managing managers
- Strong Java/C# and SQL skills
- Proficient with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies like Agile, Test-driven development
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with Big Data platforms such as Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark
- Experience with stream processing engines like Kafka, Spark, etc.
- Expertise in building event-driven scalable & resilient systems
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of information systems, business processes, the key drivers, and measures of success while choosing the proper methodologies and policies to support broad business goals
- Experience working in cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience in Snowflake, Databricks, and Google BigQuery
- Experience in the Energy Transition domain is a plus.
