Responsibilities
Support the design, analysis, and execution of mechanical systems for Fervo's geothermal power plants
Contribute to the development of high-performance, cost-effective plant designs
Own specification generation, design, and analysis of mechanical systems, components, and equipment
Drive tradeoff analysis across mechanical and thermal systems to optimize plant performance
Identify opportunities to simplify, accelerate, and standardize mechanical designs
Inform and support procurement efforts relating to mechanical equipment and vendor specifications
Demonstrate extreme ownership of cost, safety, and constructability in addition to design
Collaborate closely across disciplines and with external partners to drive integrated solutions
Act as a mentor to junior engineers
Requirements
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
2–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering for industrial, power, or energy projects
Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; proficiency with engineering analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, or Python)
Effective communicator and collaborator within cross-functional teams
Experience with piping and pressure vessel design, rotating equipment, or heat exchangers (preferred)
Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) (preferred)
Exposure to geothermal, renewable, or energy infrastructure projects (preferred)
EIT certification or working toward PE licensure (preferred)
