About the role
- Mechanical Engineer at Zelus Material Handling designing and producing high-quality mechanical upgrades and fabrications. Collaborating with teams to ensure safety and compliance in manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare concept, design and production drawings with supporting calculations and material data ensuring that designs meet specification requirements and manufacturing capabilities for new fabrications and existing equipment mechanical upgrades
- Produce assembly and detail/shop drawings for production
- Review and seal drawings
- Interfacing with customers, vendors and managers to determine project scope, requirements, deliverables, budget, costing and schedules, etc.
- Develop the technical documents required to carry out projects
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and sourcing products
- Produce BOM's and material requisitions
- Perform site visits to validate scope requirements and determine existing mechanical builds on equipment
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation (OHSA), promote safe working practices including safe equipment operation, hazard reporting, and awareness of rights
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Post-Secondary Degree in Mechanical or Structural (Civil) Engineering or relevant experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience
- Heavy Industrial Equipment Experience or O/H Crane experience is an asset
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Solidworks computer-assisted design (CAD) software
- Experience in designing machine-welded assemblies, a major asset
- Experience in structural design, an asset
- Knowledge of CSA S16 and CMAA specifications, an asset
- Proficiency with office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage priorities and work on various projects concurrently
- Ability to exercise good judgment in resolving customer service issues.
