Responsibilities
Define and execute the architectural vision and technical direction for NYSHEX’s platform, focusing on site reliability and scalability.
Lead the architecture, design, and development of systems that are reliable and secure, ready to scale as the business grows.
Develop and implement architectural standards that prioritize system stability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
Oversee the design and execution of end-to-end systems with a focus on reliability and performance.
Act as a servant leader to global agile scrum teams, promoting a reliability-first mindset and enabling them with the tools and guidance necessary to uphold high performance standards.
Collaborate with engineering, product, and cross-functional stakeholders to define an architectural roadmap that supports both immediate scalability needs and long-term growth.
Provide strategic input on system architecture, data management, and operational standards that enhance platform reliability.
Develop, maintain, and enforce standards and best practices that focus on reliable, consistent, and high-performing infrastructure.
Requirements
BS or MS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
15+ years of experience in software product development, with at least 5 years hands-on in data/application architecture, emphasizing site reliability and scalable design.
Proven track record in architect roles focused on large-scale, data-backed software services and applications.
Strong knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) with extensive experience applying DDD patterns in software development.
Deep understanding of Microservices Architecture, Data Mesh, and Cloud-Native Architecture.
Skilled in System Design and building highly reliable systems with a focus on operational excellence.
10+ years of hands-on software development experience in building high quality, performant software products at scale using majority of the key technologies listed.
Extensive experience with CI/CD practices and tooling to automate deployment pipelines.
Proficient in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable deployment and orchestration.
Comprehensive knowledge of data engineering (ETL/ELT, data modeling), data governance (classification, cataloging, lineage), and batch/real-time streaming platforms (e.g., Airflow, Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, dbt).
Familiarity with data storage and processing services in the cloud.
