Responsibilities
Responsible for the integrity of WUSC’s financial information
Timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with Canadian and international accounting principles and best practices
Manage the full cycle accounting process including month end close and reconciliations
Prepares consolidated financial statements
Manages the external financial statements audit processes
Prepares internal financial reports including variance analysis for senior management
Maintains and develops policies, guidelines and procedures for financial activities
Supports the treasury management process including cash flow forecasting
Ensures timely and accurate filing of statutory reporting including regulatory, tax and other filings
Leads the annual organizational budgeting process
Develops forecasts and scenario plans
Supports the CFO in internal risk assessment processes
Develops comprehensive risk management strategies
Acts as internal subject matter expert on Risk Management practices
Creates working environment free from sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH)
Leading, mentoring, and managing the Corporate Finance team; fostering a culture of high performance.
Requirements
Master degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field
Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation is required
A minimum of Ten (10) years accounting, risk management, and/or audit experience with at least five (5) years audit experience
A minimum of five (5) years full cycle accounting in a supervisory role.
Previous not-for-profit experience considered an asset
Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and compliance with statutory requirements in the Canadian charity sector
Experience in budgeting and forecasting
Experience developing and implementing financial policies and procedures
Ability to communicate and effectively engage and influence at all levels of the organization
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Capacity to identify and articulate potential problems and provide possible solutions in a concise and clear manner.
Ability to prioritize, organize, work independently, and take initiative.
Curious, enthusiastic and willing to innovate and adapt.
Experience with Netsuite, Dynamics GP and/or SAGE50 considered an asset.
