About the role
- Data Architect responsible for designing and enhancing data and DWH architectures. Leading migration efforts to modern cloud platforms while ensuring data consistency and performance.
Responsibilities
- Design and further development of data and DWH architectures at the intersection of on-premise and cloud
- Technical and functional responsibility for migrating existing DWH structures (on-prem) to modern cloud platforms
- Designing target architectures based on Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks (lakehouse approach)
- Analysis, assessment and transformation of existing data models, interfaces and load processes
- Definition of migration and transition strategies including parallel operation and controlled cut-over scenarios
- Consideration of regulatory requirements for cloud usage and data processing, particularly in the context of outsourcing under FMA (Financial Market Authority)
- Support in the technical evaluation and documentation of outsourcing scenarios (e.g., architecture, data flow and risk assessments)
- Ensuring data consistency, performance, governance and data lineage across system boundaries
- Close collaboration with data engineers, BI teams, business units, IT security and IT operations
- Contribution to architecture standards, blueprints and technology guidelines
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or comparable qualification
- Several years of experience as a Data Architect, DWH Architect or in a comparable role
- Solid experience in migrating on-premise DWH systems to cloud architectures
- Good knowledge of relational database systems and classical DWH concepts
- Experience with Microsoft technologies, in particular MS SQL Server
- Strong SQL skills, ideally including PL/SQL
- Understanding of data integration, ETL/ELT processes, performance optimization and operational models
- Structured, conceptual way of working as well as strong documentation and communication skills
- Very good German and good English skills
