About the role
- Senior Product Engineer designing and implementing features for GIS fiber management software at VETRO. Collaborating in a hybrid team to enhance broadband infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop features for our web based fiber management platform
- Enable our customers to design, sell, and manage their next-gen broadband networks
- Work on technically challenging GIS-based systems including state of the art tile servers, fiber network models, and interactive maps
- Build all features using open source libraries and tools
- Develop web services that extend the VETRO platform to work with other critical systems
- Support the production systems that serve our global platform by triaging bugs and application performance issues
- Participate in on-call rotations periodically
Requirements
- 5+ years development and shipping cloud-native applications and platform services to production
- 2+ years experience working with contemporary Javascript frameworks (e.g., Vue, React) or similar
- 5+ years experience working with large relational datasets
- Solid understanding of cloud services and their best practices (AWS preferred)
- Ability to break down product requirements into deliverable software
- Enthusiasm to work on new things and a readiness to jump in and contribute
- Having worked with spatial data (for example via PostGIS) is helpful
- Experience with real time data streaming is helpful
- Knowledge of how and when to use various persistent and ephemeral data storage technologies is helpful
- An understanding of frontend mapping technologies (Leaflet, MapboxGL.js) is helpful
