Responsibilities
Perform assessments and therapeutic interventions with the routine patient population
Support team endeavors by performing department and/or team tasks, problem solving and intervention skills
Orient other allied health professionals to their field upon the successful completion of their CFY year with the approval of the Department Manager
Provide student experiences per approval of the Coordinator of Student Supervision
Schedule frequency and intensity of therapy
Select assessment instruments and administer assessment
Interpret results
Complete documentation
Plan and carry out treatment strategies
Develop long- and short-term goals
Perform patient/family/staff education
Report at patient/family/team conferences
Terminate therapy when appropriate
Requirements
License (or licensure eligible) from the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Speech and Language Pathologist
Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in SLP from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship Year candidate
New graduate/CFY’s to SLP’s with less than two (2) years of experience
Strong Clinical Fellowship Year candidates will be considered
Previous clinical experience with evaluation/ treatment of neurogenic, motor speech, linguistic/cognitive communication disorders and swallowing disorders
Previous experience performing swallow studies including MBS and bedside assessments
Previous experience planning and executing treatment
Previous experience with trach management as related to swallowing and communication disorders
