About the role

• Power BI Developer designing and maintaining business intelligence solutions for thyssenkrupp Aerospace. Collaborating with teams to transform data into insights through dashboards and reports.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to support business stakeholders in operations, finance, forecasting, and supply chain management.
• Implement UI/UX best practices for intuitive data visualization and storytelling.
• Develop robust semantic models in Power BI using star and snowflake schema methodologies to optimize query performance.
• Write efficient DAX formulas and M Query (Power Query) for complex calculations and data transformations.
• Connect Power BI to SQL databases, SAP, Snowflake, Dynamics 365, Azure Data Services, and other enterprise data sources to build real-time and batch-mode reporting solutions.
• Implement automated data refresh schedules, alerts, and notifications to ensure timely updates and minimize manual interventions.
• Optimize Power BI reports for performance by leveraging best practices in column store indexing, aggregations, and incremental refresh.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, and user guides for self-service analytics.
• Partner with business analysts, data engineers, and IT teams to understand reporting requirements and translate them into Power BI solutions.
• Comply with data governance policies, role-based access controls (RBAC), row-level security (RLS), and column-level security (CLS) to ensure compliance with ITAR, CMMC, and Aerospace industry regulations.
• Collaborate with the data governance team to ensure data integrity, standardization, and lineage tracking.
• Train end users and promote self-service analytics adoption within the organization.
• Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for Power BI reports and datasets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in Power BI development in an enterprise setting.
• Expert proficiency in Power BI (Data Modeling, DAX, Power Query, Report Design).
• Strong experience in SQL (T-SQL, PL/SQL, or PostgreSQL) for querying and data transformation.
• Strong knowledge of Azure SQL, Snowflake, and SAP for data extraction and transformation.
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, or other cloud-based data platforms.
• Familiarity with data pipelines and ETL tools such as Matillion or Snowpipe.
• Understanding of data security principles (RLS, encryption, and compliance).
• Experience with UI/UX in Power BI (custom visuals, themes, usability best practices).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work in an agile framework, managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Experience with Python or R for advanced analytics and machine learning (preferred).
• Power Platform experience (Power Automate, Power Apps) for workflow automation (preferred).
