About the role
- Legal Counsel providing commercial legal services for government contracts at Thomson Reuters. Reviewing agreements and advising on regulatory compliance with a hybrid work model.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of customer-facing and partner agreements
- Serve as the primary legal point of contact to the Deal Desk for government segment
- Identify legal, regulatory and compliance requirements and risks
- Operate within policy guidelines and requirements set for Thomson Reuters lawyers
- Research and respond to general legal inquiries from Thomson Reuters internal customers
- Contribute know-how to the group’s Knowledge Management initiatives
- Provide practical and insightful business and strategic advice
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested
Requirements
- 3-5+ years post qualification experience in private practice and/or in-house legal counsel
- Excellent technical legal knowledge in government contract and commercial law, particularly with SaaS products and solutions
- Excellent negotiation and drafting skills
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to positively influence behavior of multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills; and an aptitude for problem-solving
- Experience and/or interest in using AI tools and other legal technology
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Authorized to practice law in state of residence
