About the role

  • Internship in CAD Design and FDM 3D printing at Think3DDD, a Berlin-based MedTech startup. Work on real products influencing modern healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities

  • CAD design & modeling – design, adapt and further develop 3D models for orthopedic aids and test components using accessible CAD tools (e.g., Fusion 360, Tinkercad, Blender).
  • Parametric & generative design – develop customizable, patient-specific models based on 3D scan data or measurements.
  • FDM 3D printing – slicing & process optimization – prepare print files with slicing software (e.g., Cura, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer), select suitable print parameters and materials (PLA, PETG, TPU, bio-based filaments).
  • Quality assurance & post-processing – inspect printed parts for dimensional accuracy, strength and fit.
  • Printer operation & maintenance – support the operation and upkeep of our FDM printer fleet.
  • Team collaboration – work closely with software development, orthotic/orthopedic technicians and product development to make designs practical and manufacturable.

Requirements

  • Enrolled student in a relevant degree program, e.g.: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Medical Engineering, Industrial Design, Product Design, Technical Design or a comparable subject with a focus on CAD, design or manufacturing engineering.
  • Initial experience with CAD software – e.g., Fusion 360, Meshmixer, Tinkercad or Blender (experience with SolidWorks, CATIA or similar is also welcome).
  • Basic understanding of FDM 3D printing (print parameters, materials, support structures, slicing).
  • Interest in parametric or generative design.
  • Careful, structured working style and technical understanding.
  • Team spirit, initiative and willingness to learn.
  • Good German or English language skills.

Benefits

  • Hands-on experience – work on real parts and products with a direct impact on medical technology.
  • Creative freedom – contribute your own ideas for CAD designs, print strategies or material experiments.
  • Startup culture – flat hierarchies, short decision-making paths and room for ideas.
  • Prime location in Berlin-Adlershof – technology park and research environment.
  • Flexible working hours & home office option.
  • Meaning & impact – work on products that make healthcare more sustainable.
  • Networking – contacts with orthotic technicians, research institutions and MedTech partners.
