Responsibilities
Lead all underwriting functions, including pre‑ and post‑sale activities
Develop, coach, and engage a motivated and technically strong team of underwriters
Monitor key metrics and deliver actionable analysis
Support preparation of salary and budget plans
Maintain a high standard of service to drive attraction and retention of profitable business
Partner with Sales and Marketing to promote products and services
Recommend and implement updates to products, underwriting guidelines, and pricing
Collaborate with cross‑functional and agile value stream partners
Contribute to new business pricing and cross‑functional business initiatives.
Requirements
Minimum of seven years of business experience
At least five years in underwriting with deep knowledge of life, disability, and supplemental health products
At least three years of successful leadership experience
Strong business acumen with sound judgment
Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking skills
Strong execution skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Proficiency in MS Office Suite required
Tableau experience is a plus
Able and willing to travel as needed up to ~10% of the time.
