About the role

• Senior Consultant Data Engineer in a consultancy firm focusing on data engineering and platform development. Collaborating with diverse teams to deliver high-quality data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Data Engineering aspects of the design and development of Squarcle’s product and platform development, including specifying data pipelines for multiple sources, formats, and frequencies (e.g. streaming, batched, API, unstructured, etc).
• Work on data engineering client engagements.
• Extraction, Transformation and Loading of data sets. Implementing and maintaining data pipelines and automation for data collection and analysis.
• Knowledge of data engineering tooling.
• Work closely with product owners, infrastructure engineers, data scientists, front-end engineers and UI/UX consultants to create coherent, robust and sustainable outputs for client and internal projects.
• Work with client stakeholders to understand their business problems, technology, digital maturity, data sources, access protocols and security requirements to ensure the highest levels of data security.
• Contribute to project plans, designs and prototype solutions to demonstrate early benefit and value.
• Contribute to discussions and discovery workshops to understand the As-Is state and any existing digital change activity already underway.
• Work in an Agile manner, collaborating closely with clients and colleagues to iteratively refine and deliver the solution within the Discovery – Alpha – Beta – Live delivery model aligned to GDS standards.
• Engage with appropriate Agile ceremonies, ensuring necessary information (e.g. progress, releases, risks, issues) is shared with the product owner, project manager and other stakeholders.
• Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
• Assist the Head of Digital in developing Squarcle’s Technology and Digital capabilities.
• Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals for all direct reports.
• Lead, coach and mentor team members.

Requirements

• Demonstrable expertise in data engineering, including creating robust data pipelines for streamed, batched and on-demand data sources.
• Strong data modelling and analysis skills.
• Cloud and platform experience (Azure centric, strong understanding of Azure data services; Azure data factory etc.)
• Strong understanding of API based integrations. Experience with integrating to SaaS platforms.
• Strong SQL experience.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills – an analytical, innovative, and creative mindset.
• Experience supporting the designing and delivering of data and digital solutions to solve business problems and create enduring value for clients.
• A growth mindset, enthused by challenge and the opportunity for continuous learning.
