About the role
- Senior Mechanical Engineer developing wind assisted propulsion systems at GT Wings. Hands-on role in a small, expert team focusing on scalable delivery of innovative concepts.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of key AirWing subsystems from early concept through to detailed design and manufacturing release
- Produce 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings and supporting calculations
- Apply strong Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles
- Collaborate with international suppliers and support production activities
- Capture lessons learned and continuously improve design standards, cost and manufacturability
- Review and guide junior engineers where appropriate
Requirements
- Degree qualification in Mechanical, Structural or Marine Engineering
- 5 to 10 years experience designing mechanical systems within a manufacturing environment
- A track record of taking products from concept through to production, ideally within marine or offshore sectors
- Experience with fabrication, welding or large structural assemblies
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles
- Proven experience driving cost reduction against defined targets
- Comfort operating in dynamic environments with real accountability
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD
- Fluency in Mandarin (advantageous)
