About the role
- Senior Software Engineer developing and testing Linux kernel code at Red Hat. Collaborating with teams for continuous integration and delivery in a distributed environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform design, implementation, review, and testing of Linux kernel code
- Backport fixes to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) releases
- Lead the architecture and implementation of continuous integration pipelines using tools like Jenkins.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust test frameworks ensuring these frameworks are scalable, reliable, and easily consumable by the team.
- Triage complex system failures.
- Analyze kernel panics, core dumps, and kernel logs to identify root causes and distinguish between automation issues and product bugs.
- Communicate and help coordinate dates, deliverables, feature requirements, roadmaps, etc.
- Work effectively as part of a distributed, agile team with remote members.
Requirements
- Experience developing software using C on Linux
- Strong proficiency with Python and automated testing technologies such as Jenkins, or equivalent
- Experience with software testing concepts and frameworks
- Working experience in linux testing and debugging
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience with Git
- Outstanding problem-solving and collaboration skills
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision
- Motivated and dedicated to learning
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
