Responsibilities
- Perform Short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies for commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and generation facilities using SKM, ETAP, and/or Easypower software
- Applies knowledge of low and medium-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, circuit breakers, panel boards, and disconnects to determine cost-effective mitigation solutions from the results and recommendations of power system studies
- Develop study reports and communicate results and recommendations to customers
- Perform data collection activities
- Develop and/or implement arc flash mitigation designs
- Interpret new construction drawing packages
- Develop relay protective setpoints and settings files
- Develop and/or update equipment control schematics, one-lines, three-lines, and wiring diagrams
- Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals
- Meeting all project deadlines and supporting the processes and procedures to meet deadlines
- Maintaining up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations and protection and control schematics for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training
- Successfully execute small to medium-sized projects with limited oversight
- Self-manage assigned projects and job cost accountability to perform work within budgeted cost estimates
- Effectively communicate with other departments and customers to ensure activities are properly coordinated
Requirements
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited school (Mechanical Engineering degrees accepted for some roles) with a focus on power systems
- Ability to travel 50-60% of the time
- Microsoft Office product application
- Educational experience directly related to working with [medium to high voltage] electricity (preferred)
- Knowledge of test equipment and tool/wiring usage
- Must have the ability to work independently, and accurately, and have high attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical recommendations with customers
