About the role

• Research Scientist focusing on drug substance analytics using various techniques at Orion. Collaborating in team processes and regulatory submissions within the Physical Analytical Laboratory in Espoo.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the physical analytics of drug substances and drug products.
• Utilize a wide range of analytical techniques such as XRD, DSC, TGA, DVS, LDP, and SEM.
• Plan and execute studies, interpret and summarize results.
• Draw scientifically sound conclusions and prepare documentation for regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Guide the work of research assistants in the Physical Analytical Laboratory.
• Develop physical analytical laboratory activities and follow the international development.
• Conduct laboratory work on site in Espoo.

Requirements

• Master’s or preferably doctoral degree in physics, chemistry, pharmacy, or a related field.
• Practical experience in physical analytics and solid‑state characterization.
• Hands‑on experience working with solid, powdered materials.
• Strong knowledge and proven hands‑on use of physical analytical techniques.
• Willingness and ability to conduct regular laboratory work.
• Accurate, reliable, and proactive working style with a “hands‑on” approach.
• Ability to propose practical, science‑based solutions to identified problems.
• Active and constructive participation in team processes and project work.
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English, with Finnish language skills considered as an advantage.
• Motivation to learn and develop, combined with strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
• Creative thinking and innovativeness considered an advantage.
