About the role
- Software Engineer developing scalable, cloud-native backend systems for the global travel industry at OAG. Collaborating in a multi-skilled team to design and operate production-grade services in Azure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using cloud-native and serverless patterns.
- Build and operate event-driven and message-based systems to handle high-throughput data flows.
- Develop containerised services and Azure Functions.
- Work with data platforms using SQL, supporting ingestion, transformation, and delivery use cases.
- Own services in production, including deployment, monitoring, observability, and reliability.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape technical direction and best practices.
- Identify and address technical debt, performance issues, and operational risks.
- Collaborate closely with other engineers, sharing knowledge and raising engineering standards.
Requirements
- Several years’ experience building and operating production backend systems.
- Strong experience with C# / .NET (Python experience also welcome).
- Solid SQL skills and experience working with relational or analytical databases.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, others welcome).
- Experience designing or working with distributed or event-driven systems.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows.
- Strong understanding of clean code, testing, and software engineering best practices.
- Comfortable working in Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban, or similar).
- Fluent in English.
