About the role

• Mechanical Designer responsible for engineering design tasks from concept to implementation at North America's transit bus leader. Focusing on production support and compliance with design criteria.

Responsibilities

• Complete design tasks and project assignments which support production activities
• Coordinate tasks to ensure schedule and dates are met considering vendor and production lead times.
• Create designs that meet customer specifications, technical summaries, other contract documents and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.
• Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and regulations.
• Complete or initiates controlled testing of components and installations to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.
• Complete engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures and ENAs (Notice of Action).
• Provides engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Support and other departments as required.
• Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues. Ensures that where applicable, there are documents of vendor approval on new installations or applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
• Strong CAD/Unigraphics, Drafting, Visual Basic and PLC programming is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong team work, problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
