About the role
- Senior Staff Software Engineer at Nectar building AI-native social operating systems. Architecting and scaling core systems for social data processing and analytics.
Responsibilities
- Architect and scale core systems
- Design and build the systems that ingest and process large volumes of social data from platforms like Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, and LinkedIn
- Drive technical strategy and architecture
- Lead major technical decisions across the platform
- Build systems that scale 10–100x
- Improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across our data and AI pipelines
- Raise the engineering bar
- Mentor engineers, review system designs and code
- Operate with full ownership
- Work closely with product and engineering leadership to solve complex problems
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating production software systems
- Startup experience strongly preferred
- Experience designing and scaling distributed systems, data infrastructure, or complex production systems
- Proven ability to architect systems and drive technical decisions
- Track record of technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and influencing engineering direction
- Comfort operating in fast-moving startup environments with high ownership
- Strong product intuition and ability to collaborate closely with product and design
- Interest in AI-native engineering workflows and how AI is changing how software gets built
