About the role
- Senior DBA responsible for data security and performance of myKaarma's production databases. Collaborating with teams and driving infrastructure automation for optimal cloud data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Assume full end-to-end ownership of data security, integrity, and operational readiness for all production stores (Aurora/MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis).
- Design and maintain database configurations using tools such as Ansible to achieve faster, consistent deployments across the fleet.
- Provide deep-level performance tuning, query optimization, and schema guidance.
- Direct complex operational tasks, including enforcing strict standards for backups, disaster recovery, and ensuring smooth replica switchover capabilities.
- Leverage observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana) to establish predictive failure models, rapidly troubleshoot regressions, and maintain a high-quality knowledge base.
- Partner with development teams to implement optimized SQL/NoSQL query strategies and stored procedures.
Requirements
- 5+ years of dedicated experience as a DBA in a mission-critical, high-traffic environment
- Proficiency in MySQL/Aurora and MariaDB for deep tuning and troubleshooting.
- Strong working knowledge of MongoDB and ElasticSearch.
- Hands-on experience with configuration management (Ansible is highly preferred) or other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud environments and Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated history of follow-through, strong ownership, and meticulous diligence.
- In-depth knowledge of database structure, systems, and automation techniques.
