About the role
- Data Engineer focusing on SQL performance optimization and data pipelines development for MIC Global's insurtech solutions. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data quality and analytics.
Responsibilities
- Support infrastructure team with production database issues and troubleshooting
- Debug and resolve SQL performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries
- Optimize stored procedures, functions, and views for better performance
- Perform query tuning, index optimization, and execution plan analysis
- Design and develop complex stored procedures, functions, and views
- Support the reporting team with complex SQL queries and database design
- Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Python
- Implement data quality checks and validation rules before data enters pipelines
- Develop data integration solutions to connect various data sources and systems
- Create automated data validation, quality monitoring, and alerting mechanisms
- Develop Python scripts for data processing, transformation, and automation
- Build and maintain data models to support reporting and analytics requirements
- Help data analytics team build visualizations and dashboards by providing data models and queries
- Support reporting team with data extraction, transformation, and complex reporting queries
- Collaborate with development teams to support application database requirements
- Provide technical guidance and best practices for database design and query optimization
- Work with Azure services including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Azure Functions, and Azure ML
- Implement cloud-based data solutions following Azure best practices
- Support cloud database migrations and optimizations
- Work with Agentic AI concepts and tools to build intelligent data solutions.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of experience in data engineering and database administration
- Strong expertise in MS SQL Server (2016+) administration and development
- Proficient in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage)
- Strong Python scripting skills for data processing and automation
- Experience with ETL/ELT design and implementation
- Knowledge of database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies
- Experience with SQL performance debugging tools (XEvents, Profiler, or similar)
- Understanding of data modeling and dimensional design concepts
- Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working in Agile teams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Understanding of Agentic AI concepts and tools
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
