About the role
- Senior Informix Engineer overseeing IBM Informix databases administration and support. Ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and application development in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high availability and performance tuning of IBM Informix databases
- Administer and support IBM Informix databases across development, testing, and production environments
- Install, configure, and upgrade Informix database server software
- Monitor database performance, perform tuning, and ensure optimal efficiency and uptime
- Manage database backup and recovery strategies, including DR planning and testing
- Troubleshoot, debug, and modify existing Informix 4GL application code, forms, and reports
- Write, optimize, and tune complex SQL statements, stored procedures, and triggers for IBM Informix Dynamic Server
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Informix database administration
- Strong proficiency with SQL and Informix tools (dbaccess, onstat, oncheck, etc.)
- Solid understanding of database architecture, replication, and disaster recovery
- Proficiency in the Informix 4GL programming language
- Excellent skills in writing, optimizing, and debugging complex SQL and PL/SQL (or similar procedural SQL) within the Informix environment
