About the role
- Data Engineer focusing on secure ETL/ELT data pipelines and compliance in healthcare. Designing scalable ingestion frameworks and ensuring alignment with federal standards.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain secure ETL/ELT data pipelines in IL4/IL5 cloud environments
- Implement ingestion frameworks integrating structured and unstructured data sources
- Develop API-based and streaming ingestion mechanisms
- Integrate enterprise systems such as: MHS GENESIS, TRICARE, United States Transportation Command
- Enforce data validation, schema enforcement, and metadata tagging standards
- Implement encryption in transit and at rest in accordance with DoD and NIST requirements
- Develop automated logging, monitoring, and audit trails for all data ingestion and transformation activities
- Support implementation of attribute-based access control (ABAC) and role-based access control (RBAC) mechanisms
- Assist with RMF documentation and ATO package development
- Ensure compliance with: NIST SP 800-53 controls, FedRAMP Moderate/High baselines, CMMC requirements, HIPAA security rules, DoD 5400.11-R privacy requirements.
- Participate in DevSecOps pipeline implementation and CI/CD automation
- Support data cataloging, metadata management, and lineage tracking initiatives.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years of experience in data engineering or enterprise data platform development
- Experience supporting DoD or federal civilian agencies
- Hands-on experience with IL4/IL5 cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or equivalent)
- Strong experience with SQL and Python
- Experience building pipelines using Spark or distributed processing frameworks
- Experience with streaming technologies (Kafka or equivalent)
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD practices
- Understanding of NIST 800-series security controls and federal compliance environments
- Experience implementing encryption, logging, and monitoring controls
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
