About the role

Responsibilities
- Influencing underwriting practices and contributing to large-scale strategic initiatives
- Reviewing complex files for underwriting quality and risk assessment
- Conducting quality controls and participating in audit processes
- Providing expert assessments for contestable, post-issue or litigation-related cases
- Evaluating current underwriting rules and recommending updates
- Collaborating with various partners to ensure alignment and consistency of rules
- Contributing to underwriting automation and modernization practices
- Acting as a resource for underwriters and providing training and support.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in individual underwriting
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex medical and financial information
- Ability to clearly explain technical concepts to colleagues with varying levels of expertise
- Interest in innovative approaches, the evolution of underwriting methodologies and technological solutions
- The FALU and FLMI designations are assets
- Experience working with reinsurers in complex or non-standard financial scenarios (asset)
- Experience working with actuarial, data science or technology teams to develop rules or improve systems (asset)
- Intermediate level of English required for communication with internal partners.
