Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Leadership and their teams (30-35 engineers total), creating an environment where people do their best work.
Own the growth and wellbeing of the engineering org - hiring, onboarding, performance, and retention.
Be the engineering culture carrier: fostering ownership, technical excellence, and psychological safety across teams.
Establish and continuously improve the standards, processes, and tooling that enable teams to ship reliable, secure, and high-quality software at pace.
Own the engineering governance framework: tech stack decisions, cost management, security posture, and architectural standards.
Drive cross-team alignment on best practices, ensuring consistency without stifling autonomy.
Be a credible technical partner - able to get into the weeds on distributed systems, cloud architecture, and engineering trade-offs when teams need it.
Evaluate and guide architectural decisions, ensuring our systems scale to meet the demands of high-volume, mission-critical logistics operations.
Stay close to the stack without being in the critical path of delivery.
Collaborate closely with Product leadership on roadmap planning - contributing the engineering perspective on feasibility, risk, and opportunity.
Act as the bridge between business objectives and engineering execution, translating strategy into team-level priorities.
Requirements
Proven track record as an Engineering Manager or similar role - ideally in a fast-moving startup or scale-up environment.
Experience leading and growing engineering teams of 20+ people, including managing managers.
Background in building and operating distributed systems at scale, with a solid understanding of what it takes to run high-traffic, high-availability products in production.
Hands-on experience with AWS and modern cloud-native architectures.
