Systems Engineer developing advanced driver assistance systems for Ford vehicles focusing on interior perception technologies. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and convenience in automotive applications.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with feature systems engineers to define design objectives, functional requirements, and architectural decisions for driver engagement systems.
Develop and apply systematic, statistical methods to translate feature-level requirements into specific system performance expectations.
Define and develop performance requirements and associated metrics for perception systems, including establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for availability, accuracy, and false positive rates.
Evaluate a variety of perception interfaces, such as gaze and pose angle, and interior zones.
Work with vendors to measure system sensitivity to individual factors (e.g., height, seating position, facial attributes), vehicle characteristics (e.g., sensor packaging, interior geometry), and environmental conditions (e.g., ambient light, sun angle).
Explore and propose system architecture modifications to decrease application sensitivity.
Investigate and implement strategies to reduce sub-demographic systematic errors.
Partner with vendors and our hardware team to refine sensor and illuminator packaging requirements.
Design a validation strategy to quantify system robustness against interacting noise factors for both platform and application sign-off.
Define real-world usage profiles to estimate system performance for a representative population in naturalistic driving conditions.
Support root cause analysis for any field issues with cross-functional team.
