• Infrastructure Engineer developing and maintaining AWS and SQL Server environments at an IT consulting firm. Working directly with clients to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and improve systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, troubleshoot, and improve AWS infrastructure
• Support and maintain SQL Server environments
• Manage hybrid on-prem/cloud networks
• Work directly with clients to diagnose root causes
• Push vendors when they attempt to deflect responsibility
• Document clearly and communicate expectations
• Balance technical thoroughness with billable efficiency

Requirements

• Strong in AWS infrastructure (not just basic EC2 clicks)
• Understands SQL Server administration in production environments
• Can troubleshoot networking and firewall issues
• Is comfortable working directly with business stakeholders
• Takes ownership and communicates clearly
• Knows when to say 'I don’t know — I’ll find out'

• AWS VPC & site-to-site VPN configuration
• AWS IAM & identity architecture
• SQL Server administration (backup strategy, performance, maintenance)
• Windows Server & Active Directory
• PowerShell scripting
• Server administration (patching, backups, virtualization)
• Firewall configuration & troubleshooting
• Advanced networking concepts (VLANs, routing, IPsec)
• Strongly Preferred
• AWS S3 lifecycle & security configuration
• Hypervisor administration
• Experience working in consulting environments
• Experience coordinating with vendors
