Civil Engineering Student (Co-op) assisting Municipal Infrastructure team with project support and CAD work. Gaining practical experience and mentorship in engineering concepts and documentation.
Responsibilities
Support the preparation of CAD drawings for real municipal infrastructure projects, including watermain, sanitary, stormwater, roads, and grading
Create and update plans, profiles, cross-sections, details, schedules, and quantity take-offs
Learn how projects come together by coordinating with designers, engineers, project managers, and CAD staff
Apply review comments and complete basic drawing checks to understand quality and design standards
Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimating to build commercial and technical awareness
Help organize drawings and project files using professional documentation workflows
Work closely with senior team members to turn engineering concepts into clear, buildable drawings
Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to real project discussions and decision-making
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or related post-secondary program (co-op or WIL eligible)
Interest in learning AutoCAD Civil 3D
Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word; eager to learn CAD standards
Interest in municipal infrastructure and how engineering impacts communities
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn
Comfortable communicating in a team environment, both verbally and in writing
Able to balance multiple tasks and deadlines with support from senior staff
Holds a valid Ontario driver’s license and has access to a vehicle for site visits and meetings
