Responsibilities
Leads governance, performance, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety & Environment at a battery manufacturing industrial site classified SEVESO
Ensures compliance with French and European regulations (ICPE, SEVESO, French Labour Code, IED, ADR)
Prevents major accidents
Protects employees, contractors, local communities, and the environment
Owner of the site’s HSE management system
Primary point of contact for authorities
Authority to stop hazardous activities
Proposes necessary investments and implements corrective actions
Full responsibility for the site’s HSE regulatory compliance
Manages Upper-Tier SEVESO compliance and the Safety Management System
Prepares and updates the Safety Report, the On-Site Emergency Plan (POI), and the Major Accident Prevention Policy
Coordinates emergency exercises and contributes to crisis management
Manages ATEX zoning and explosion risk assessments
Manages ICPE files and relations with DREAL, the Prefecture, the Water Agency, and the Labour Inspectorate
Tracks inspections, action plans, and annual environmental reporting
Monitors French extended producer responsibility (REP) obligations (batteries, packaging, WEEE)
Requirements
Master’s degree (Bac+5) in engineering or equivalent
IPRP registration (DREETS) required
10 years of senior HSE experience in heavy industry
Proven experience at an Upper-Tier SEVESO site
Knowledge of lead/chemical environments, DREAL inspections, crisis management, and major incident investigations
Technical expertise in the French Labour Code and industrial HSE regulations
ICPE / SEVESO
Industrial hygiene & biological monitoring; IED/BAT; EU Batteries Regulation
REP (batteries, packaging, WEEE); ADR; risk analysis methodologies; ISO management systems
Fluent in French and English
